About DesMoinesFamilies.com
Iowa’s capital city is undergoing a major revival, and it’s more important now than ever for us to think creatively about how our babies, toddlers and kids can be an asset to this (forgive the gratuitous use of a buzz word) revitalization.
With more than 100,000 residents under the age of 15, Des Moines has the opportunity to endear this impressionable young group to their hometown before they get hip to our ulterior motive – keeping their bright minds and big dreams here!
Des Moines Families helps our city’s ankle-biters get jazzed about their city.
We do that by helping their parents fight the shut-in urge that comes so quickly after leaving the maternity ward. The unpredictable behavior of new babies, ornery toddlers, moody adolescents and even moodier teens often makes exploring new places intimidating.
This site, designed and supported by Des Moines parents, eliminates some of the guess-work that comes from taking the family to new places around the metro.
While every restaurant, store and event isn’t going to be appropriate for children, there's more out there than you think.
We tell you everything from which restaurants keep the high-chairs and crayons stocked to where the babysitters are and how to contact them. Local parents come here to dish about the best (and worst) establishments in our community and their methods for handling awkward outbursts in some of the city’s well-known haunts.
If we want our kids to love this city like we do, they need to look around. I hope this site gives you some great ideas for opening their eyes to all things Des Moines.

Your boys are so cute.
I have a company you can add to Mom and Dad Owned Businesses, under Natural Parenting. It's Diaper Dudee which is a cloth diaper service in Des Moines. The Web site is www.desmoinesdiaperservice.com.
I work at the Art Center and hope to get some of our classes/workshops/fun stuff up on the site. I push for more toddler/pre-K actitivites here...
