- What is your favorite thing about raising kids in Des Moines?
- Exploring all there is to offer without having to worry so much about gas mileage.
- What's is the best kept secret in Des Moines
- I think it's the Playground for Kids in Ankeny. I never knew this place even existed until my daughter was born and I started meeting other moms. The open play days are great and we have a blast being able to get on the equipment with the kiddos. We never see many people there, if at all, so I'm guessing not many people know this indoor playground exists or that you don't always have to reserve time to play.

There's not really a place to do a brief intro...
...so I'll put it here. Currently a full time member of the Iowa Army National Guard, assigned to the Aviation unit that is in Boone. My daughter is 13 months old and my husband helps manage a restaurant chain here in Des Moines.
Other than that, I like long walks on the beach and watching the sunset....just kidding! While I don't mind doing that I find myself not having the time anymore! As I'm sure most parents find out sooner or later! Some hobbies and interests include art when I have time, computer graphics and design, cooking, reading, crafts, shopping, and traveling. I think we are pretty much homebodies and prefer doing things in and around close to Des Moines. We are so busy sometimes and work such different schedules that it's hard to get out and meet other parents that I find myself trying to put stuff on our calendars with some cushion in between so we can make sure we're both home.
This site looks interesting! Hope that it will open some opportunities to network and get to know some other DSM families out there!
